[ Memo the Blank ]

Memo is a demon who eats memories.

In her world, demons are being who exist to bring out the worst in humans. They are meant to push humanity into making terrible choices and ultimately ending their own civilization. The reason for this is what demons and angels are both unable to directly touch humans. Memo exists in a special dimension called the Locked Dimension, and only her powers have the ability to influence humans.

However, Memo once failed heavily at her purpose. She began to learn about humans and came to fall in love with humanity. She adored how strong they were and how they thrived, even when the unknown Powers That Be (like herself,) were against them.

So Memo was punished. She had her memories stripped away and lost her sense of self. She was also formally kicked out of the Locked Dimension and began existing in a world that hated her. Now, Memo cannot remember anything about herself in the first person. In order to remember events, she has to eat the memories of those who can see her. This results in a very lonely existence for Memo. It also makes it difficult for her to emotionally connect with herself, since she cannot remember her feelings from the first person. She is constantly guessing who she is.

Personality Notes

  • Memo cannot remember herself in the 1st person. This makes it hard for her to develop complicated emotions and hard to understand herself. Her memories will simply fade away every twelve hours, unless she is actively keeping them in her conscious mind. While she can write diaries, they are still distant feelings. In general, she tries to eat the memories of those around her in order to remember herself.
  • She is highly curious. She wrote in her own diary that she loved humans, but she can no longer remember why. Memo will needle people relentlessly as she tries to discover what she loved about them. However, being unable to remember her results leads to her not only repeating the same annoying experiments over and over, but rarely understanding the consequences of her tormenting.
  • Memo does not like eating unpleasant memories. Because of this, she does not understand sadness very well. She also lacks accurate empathy or a sense of danger, because she does not remember ever being sad or hurt. Memo finds these experiences interesting to watch, but will consistently choose to spit up sad memories.
  • She invests more in others than herself. Memo has a habit of living through others, because she has no sense of self. She recognizes that she will always be empty and doesn't know how to fill the void inside of herself. Memo also admits that she wishes she could repent for whatever sin led to this punishment, but she doesn't remember what that is.
  • Being a demon is Memo's source of comfort. It's something she consistently knows, so is the only way that she knows to define herself. She can be manipulated by being telling her "A demon would do that." Likewise, she purposefully tries to be ruthless and at least tries to bring humans down. She can be cruel in her tactics, because she thinks being cruel is part of her personality. Memo freaks out when she is in conflict with her demonic self-image.
  • Powers

  • Memory Eating: Memo can eat peoples' memories. This causes them to forget whatever she is eating. She eats memories through kissing their forehead. She can also eat material from pages of paper. HIDE YOUR BOOKS.
  • Memory Restoration: Memo can return memories that she has stolen. She often does this is a memory overwhelms her. When she is "spitting up" a memory, Memo becomes physically ill. She doesn't actually vomit, but she will crumple to the ground and act very sickly.
  • Memory Manipulation: One of her demonic powers, meant to cause chaos. Memo can manipulate memories. While she is meant to use this to cause chaos and pit people against each other, she can also make memories more pleasant.
  • Memory Illusions: One of her demonic powers, and possibly her most useful. Memo can create illusions based on what people remember. They are powered by the people whose memories she is using, so disappear if that person loses consciousness. Because they are linked to particular people, the way they act is barely in Memo's control. She can creates copies of loved ones, which act according to the target's expectations. She can also create animals or monsters, which reflect the target's imagined versions of these things.
  • Immortality: Memo cannot die, so long as someone remembers her. The people who remember her can kill her by imagining her dead, or losing sight of who she is. For example, if a rumor started that Memo was sick then she would become sick and potentially die from it. She cannot heal the imagined harm to her body.
  • WING TALK

In Memo's culture, demons and angels both have wings somewhere on their bodies. The way that they move their wings is a form of universal communication, and seen as more polite than opening one's mouth. Body language is very important to her.

  • Greetings: A polite greeting involves spreading open one's wings (showing their design, size, etc. and therefore communicating rank and affinities,) and then tilting one's head to the left.
  • Submission: To show your ranking is below another, you bow your head and spread your wings. There is almost a curtsy involved.
  • Dominance: The dominant and higher ranking will mark this by spreading open their wings and crossing their arms. They hold their heads high and often make eye contact.
  • Fear: To communicate you fear another, and beg for your life/safety, you fold your wings tightly and drop to your knees. This shows that even if your wings might speak dominance, you personally are submitting. This is also used by those with domninant genes who wish to take a submissive role.
  • Excited: To communicate joy and eagerness, you flap your wings three times. After that, the wings will quiver and shake. If the point doesn't seem to have gotten across, you repeat the flapping. This is meant to communicate a silent desire for something-- for example, asking to share a bite of cake or be given a toy.
  • Gratitude: Fluff and fold your wings. If your wings have nothing to fluff, you extend them briefly and then quickly fold them.
